If you are itching for a new competitive shooter, then you will have your taste satiated. At the Xbox Partner Preview event, The Finals announced that it will have an open beta across all platforms (Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC) that will include cross-play from October 26 through November 5. You can see the trailer for the beta below, which gives you a taste of what you can expect from this free-to-play shooter.
There have been some tests for the game on PC. Embark Studios, comprised of former Battlefield devs, will deliver the first taste for console players. This will help the studio fine-tune the experience on consoles, particularly how the experience will be on a controller. This will also be a test for its servers, which are almost always problematic for online games.
The Finals Open Beta Coming for All of Its Platforms and Will Include Cross-Play
Whether you have or have not played any previous test of The Finals, the open beta features new content to try out. A new map called Skyway Stadium will be playable. A new game mode will be introduced called Bank-It. The mode will have four teams of three trying to gain the most money. It is described as a “casual-friendly, combat-focused mode.”
You will benefit from The Finals‘ open beta for the game’s inevitable launch. It will feature a free Battle Pass with 16 tiers. The unlocked awards will be available when the game is released.
The former CEO of Battlefield developer DICE, Patrick Söderlund, co-founded the studio in 2018 with DICE’s ex-CCO, Rob Runnesson. The team is currently developing another free-to-play third-person shooter, ARC Raiders. As its first-person project progressed faster, the focus pivoted away from its third-person game. No release date has been set for either project.
When The Finals is released, it will be available on PS5,
