The Game Awards 2021 are in full swing, and the night is sure to be full of exciting announcements, kicking things off with the long-awaited Tunic finally having a release date set for 2022.

Originally shown to the world back in 2018, the top-down platformer has taken its time getting to this point. According to a report from IGN, Rebekah Saltsman from publisher Finji said, “It took Tunic years to discover itself, effectively, and for the team to make the most “Tunic-y” decisions possible at each juncture. Level design alone changed often because so many of the things its developers thought would work ultimately didn’t.” Saltsman also kindly reminded fans that the team behind Tunic is a very small one.

Tunic is a geometric Zelda-like centered around an adorable fox on an adventure:

Explore a land filled with lost legends, ancient powers, and ferocious monsters in TUNIC, an isometric action game about a small fox on a big adventure. Stranded on a mysterious beach, armed with only your own curiosity, you will confront colossal beasts, collect strange and powerful items, and unravel long-lost secrets.”

According to Game Awards announcement, Tunic is finally set to release on March 16, 2022 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For those eager to check out this Zelda-like adventure early, there is a demo available on Steam, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X now through December 14.

We got the chance to check out an early version of Tunic a few years back, check out our impressions here!
