It feels like its been forever since we first jumped into the shoes of Agent 47 in Hitman: Codename 47. That game may not be much these days, but its since sparked a fan-favorite franchise that’s left fans immensely satisfied. That’s especially true with some of the recent entries, and no doubt will be with Hitman 3’s release early next year. Today is a day of celebration though, as Hitman has now been a game series for about two decades. That’s a huge achievement, especially given we’re still seeing innovational entries after this long. Congratulations to IO Interactive on this substantial milestone.

Hitman Agent 47

Over the past 20 years, the Hitman team has developed seven different titles in the franchise. While not every game has garnered immense praise, the series is still infamous for everything it’s done right and all the fun that’s been shared. IO Interactive shared some kind words with their fans on a recent blog post:

We are immensely proud to reach the significant milestone of 70 million lifetime players and we are honoured to have such a strong community of players, fans and partners that have helped us to continue making games, building on Agent 47’s legacy and providing hours and hours of enjoyment in the last 20 years. Thank you for your inspiration, passion, dedication and support that has fuelled our drive to continually improve and create.”

And thank you Hitman team, for making a series that’s had a lasting impact on many of us. With all this being said though, these words aren’t the only way the team is expressing their gratitude for the fanbase. To commemorate the two achievements, the team has promised to celebrate Agent 47 with some “moments of celebration”. Among these will be news regarding Hitman 3, which I’m more than excited for. I’ll keep you posted once we know more information.

A great day and month for Hitman fans and IO Interactive alike. I’d love to hear your thoughts though. Which of the Hitman games is your favorite? Will you be purchasing Hitman 3? Let me know in the comments below!
