The Inner Friend was first released on September 6, 2018, for the Steam platform. It received a substantial positive reception and likely one of the key factors in moving to consoles. In this title, you are never really alone.
A shadow will accompany you through a physical version of the subconscious mind. Journey through a nightmare realm of memories, as the story unravels through spectacular visuals. Instead of the usual spoken dialogue, The Inner Friend will weave a story of subconscious fear through astounding visuals and ambient music. Will you be able to brave this twisted world of memory filled with dark creatures? There are no weapons, and you are only with the help of the Shadow will you escape. Even if you manage to escape, though, you will once again have to come face to face with each one.
The Inner Friend Console Release Date
The Inner Friend was developed and published by the studio PLAYMIND. Founded back in 2002 by Emmanuel Sevigny, the studio’s primary focus was on augmented reality and virtual reality titles. But this title has been the focus of the project team for the last two years. After so much work had already gone into it, the developers felt it was time console players had a chance to play The Inner Friend. The Steam version is the recipient of many awards, and time will tell if it garners the same reception on consoles. Some may attribute it to a nightmarish version of Inception. But here, you don’t have the power of a full agency at your back.
The Inner Friend will release on April 28, 2020, for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Will you be challenging your own will to dive through nightmares? Will you be buying the Steam version, or are you eager to play this title on the console? Let us know your thoughts in the comments!
