The first trailer for the upcoming remake of The Last of Us unexpectedly dropped during this year’s Summer Game Fest. It was one of the final announcements for the event, with a few familiar faces joining the stage. The Last of Us Part I remake is scheduled to release on September 2, 2022, for the PlayStation 5 console. Naughty Dog also announced a standalone multiplayer experience for The Last of Us fans and a new image from the upcoming HBO Max adaptation.
The Last of Us Part I Remake Comes to the PlayStation 5
Host Geoff Keighley presented the trailer’s world premiere while speaking with game director Neil Druckmann and actors Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson. The remake is coming to the PlayStation 5, and it comes with both the base game and the DLC. This includes the Left Behind additional content that adds more depth to the story. Players can also expect to experience enhanced accessibility options and updated graphics. Furthermore, it’s confirmed that it is indeed a remake, with development starting from the ground up. The remake news actually stirred from a leak where Sony accidentally listed the game via their online store. They pulled the listing almost immediately, but players quickly caught the mistake. Naughty Dog merely confirmed the upcoming remake during their showcasing at Summer Game Fest 2022.
At some point today, depending on your region, you’ll be able to pre-order the remake. It will be published in three distinct editions. The Standard is priced at $69.99; their Deluxe Edition will run you for ten bucks more at $79.9; the third edition, known as the Firefly Edition, is going for $99.99. The Deluxe Edition comes with various in-game items. But for the Firefly one, you’ll receive the aforesaid items, a steelbook case, and American Dreams comics #1-#4.
