The Legend of Zelda series features a unique and colorful variety of instruments throughout its stories. One of these is the well-recognized and beautifully designed Goddess’s Harp, used by Zelda in The Legend Of Zelda Skyward Sword HD. While Link can pull out the harp virtually anywhere in the world and strum its delicate strings, this harp is an essential part of the plot in Skyward Sword, which means players will need to know where they can find this mystical instrument. This guide seeks to provide a clear explanation of where and how you can find the Goddess’s Harp.

Skyward Sword Goddess's Harp The Old One

Acquiring the Goddess’s Harp in Skyward Sword isn’t an easy task. You will have to make your way through the treacherous Lanayru Mining Facility. After persevering through, you’ll find yourself in the Temple of Time, where Zelda will grant you the Goddess’s Harp.

Getting through the Lanayru Mining Facility is quite challenging. You’ll need to have your wits about you as the dungeon is full of threatening enemies, tricky puzzles, and deadly traps. In the end, you’ll encounter a boss battle where you will face off with the formidable Moldarach, a giant and surprisingly scary scorpion. After defeating the boss, you will be taken to the Temple of Time and receive the Goddess’s Harp.

How to Play the Goddess’s Harp

Find Goddess's Harp

To learn how to play the Goddess’s Harp in Skyward Sword, speak with The Old One at the Sealed Grounds. She will teach Link how to play the Ballad of the Goddess. As mentioned beforehand, Link can equip the harp almost anywhere by pressing the X Button. To play it, press and hold the A button. While holding down A, swing the right Joy-Con sideways, and you’ll be able to lightly strum the Goddess’s Harp. Conversely, hold down A and tilt the right thumbstick sideways if you use button-only controls.

The Five Songs of the Goddess’s Harp

Here is a list of songs you can play on the Goddess’s Harp during certain events in Skyward Sword.

Ballad of the Goddess

This song opens a path to the Thunderhead and reveals the Gate of Time. You can obtain this ballad by speaking with The Old One at the Sealed Grounds after receiving the Goddess’s Harp.

Farore’s Courage

You will need this song to open a portal to the Silent Realm in Faron Woods. The Imprisoned must be defeated (for the first time) to obtain Farore’s Courage.

Nayru’s Wisdom

The melody reveals a portal to the Silent Realm in Lanayru Desert. You’ll receive this song after completing the Ancient Cistern.

Din’s Power

A portal to the Silent Realm in Eldin Volcano can be opened by playing this tune on the harp. For this song, you’ll need to complete the Sandship.

Song of the Hero

This song is made up of four parts. Each of the four musical pieces can be learned from Faron, Lanayru, Eldin, and Levias. After completing this melody, you can open a portal to the Silent Realm in Skyloft.
