During the November 12th Nintendo Direct, Legend of Zelda fans certainly received quite a surprise! It turns out all of those rumors were true and we are in fact receiving an HD update of the famed The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. First released on the GameCube back in 2006, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess has always been one of the series best entries in the Zelda franchise. Now set to re-release once more on March 6th, 2016; Twilight Princess follows the path of Wind Waker as it is being ported over to the WiiU. Along with this stellar announcement, we also received a trailer and some more information on the HD port.

It turns out that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD will not only be receiving Amiibo support but will come with a brand new Amiibo to christen the release. Packaged with the Wolf Link amiibo (Featuring Minda on his back,) Twilight Princess will also support all of the previous Zelda amiibos released for Super Smash Brothers WiiU (i.e. Link, Toon Link, Shiek, Zelda, and Ganondorf.) There is no word how the amiibos will affect the gameplay, but my best guess is it will be either tiny changes or simply cosmetic. Seriously, though…can we please get a Zant amiibo? Loved that guy! Pre-orders have opened so make sure to grab your copy while they’re still around before they eventually vanish into obscurity.

The trailer itself showed a lot of updated footage and while the game clearly hasn’t aged as well as Wind Waker, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess’ art style is still one of the most visually striking of the series. Make sure to check out the trailer below! Developed alongside with Australian based developer Tantalus, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was one of the most exciting announcements in this month’s Nintendo Direct…even if it did get data mined back in October. Nintendo President Reggie Fils-Amie stated that more details on The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD will be released int he future; so not the long wait begins.

What do you think of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess returning to consoles? Is this the Zelda game you wanted? Will you be buying the new amiibo? Sound off below!
