Tolkien fans got their first look at Daedalic Entertainment‘s newest project, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, in a brief gameplay trailer.
The trailer gives fans a brief look at what gameplay might be like in Gollum. It will come as little surprise that the game will rely heavily on sneaking and traversing different terrains to find your way. But hobbits aren’t the only tricksy creatures, and you may have the option to dispose of enemies in other creative ways.
Beware, the player’s choices do have consequences and will affect the game as a whole:
The decisions you make and the way you play have a direct influence on Gollum’s personality: Always struggling between the two sides embodied by Gollum and Sméagol, it is up to you to decide whether the darker side of Gollum takes over or if there is a spark of reason left in what once was Sméagol.
What we know of the story is brief so far, “The Lord of the Rings™: Gollum™ is a story-driven action adventure. Take on a perilous journey as Gollum, chasing the only thing that is precious to him. Gollum is skillful and cunning, but also torn by his split personality. One mind, two egos – you decide!”
As of this writing, The Lord of the Rings: Gollum doesn’t have an official release date. It is projected for release in 2022 on all major platforms and consoles. Right now, the game’s Steam page lists the release date as “lurking until the time is right”.
