Bloober Team, the team behind Layers of Fear, Observer and The Blair Witch,  released a new story trailer for their new game,  The Medium, earlier this week. The trailer gives players a deeper look into some of the spirits found within this horror title.

The trailer gives a vague dip into the dark origins of The Medium’s main protagonist, The Maw, who is voiced by the talented Troy Baker. Sadness, “a mysterious masked girl who resides at the abandoned Niwa Hotel”, also makes a stronger showing in the new story trailer.

In addition to the trailer, an art piece for The Medium entitled “The Gift” was released “that showcases Marianne, the titular medium, as she readies her psychic energy against the backdrop of the material world and the spirit world – with the protagonist existing in both of them at the same time.”

The Medium is a split-screen dual-reality horror game:

Discover a dark mystery only a medium can solve. Explore the real world and the spirit world at the same time. Use your psychic abilities to solve puzzles spanning both worlds, uncover deeply disturbing secrets, and survive encounters with The Maw – a monster born from an unspeakable tragedy.

While an official release date has not been announced, The Medium will be available on Xbox Series X and PC during Holiday 2020. Pre-orders are available now for $49.99. Steam pre-orders are at a discounted price of $44.99 and will come with the original soundtrack and a digital artbook.

If you’d like to stay up-to-date on development for The Medium, Bloober Team regularly posts behind the scenes featurettes on their YouTube and social media pages.
