For decades, stealth game fans argued about which is the ultimate infiltrator: one running inside cardboard boxes or one crouching with night-vision goggles. Now, you don’t have to. Solid Snake is officially joining Rainbow Six Siege as a playable Operator in the new season, Operation Silent Hunt.
Ubisoft dropped a 1:30-minute CG cinematic confirming the tactical espionage icon deploys on March 3, 2026, alongside the season launch. It shows Snake taking down enemies inside a cloud of smoke before encountering Sam Fisher — right as his Soliton Radar detects more hostiles closing in. Previously, Sam was added to the game during the Operation Shadow Legacy season in September 2020.
A separate 7-minute gameplay, though, highlights what Snake can do in this new field of battle. The PMR90A2 Designated Marksman rifle or the F2 Assault Rifle is available as his primary weapon. Meanwhile, Solid Snake’s iconic TACIT .45 with an integrated suppressor and reflex sight sidearm is brand new to Rainbow Six Siege.
True to his original games, the Legendary Hero comes equipped with Soliton Radar MKIII. It lets him scan nearby rooms, revealing floor layouts, cameras, and even enemy positions and vision cones. While extremely effective as a recon unit, his ability can still be countered with jammers, cloaking abilities, or deception gadgets.
He also brings a unique On-Site Procurement ability, inspired by the survival mechanics of the Metal Gear series. Instead of spawning fully stocked, Snake scavenges gadgets from defeated Operators, gradually expanding his loadout — forcing players to overcome and adapt to situations on the fly.
The collaboration extends beyond gameplay, as you would expect. The Operation Silent Hunt battle pass unlocks Snake and includes themed cosmetics — including a Psycho Mantis outfit for Smoke, Gray Fox for Jackal, and Meryl for Ash. A limited-time event will add more skins, a new infiltration mode, and a special stealth-themed team-up scenario as well.
The bigger surprise here is timing, of course. Just days before this reveal, Konami announced Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol 2. The remaster collection finally brings MGS4: Guns of the Patriots back to modern platforms, along with Peace Walker, the series’s first handheld game, Ghost Babel, and the Digital Soundtrack Vol 2 album. Last year, the Snake Eater remake, MGS Δ, became a major success for Konami, selling 1 million copies in the first 24 hours.
Notably, Operation Silent Hunt marks the first official meeting between Solid Snake and Sam Fisher. After all, the two stealth game heroes have only ever acknowledged each other through cheeky references in their own series before. No doubt that Solid Snake fans are grinning ear to ear from all of this news.
