While shopping, a Texas mother shared on TikTok an incredible sight: a line of people, nearly the length of the store, waiting to buy insanely popular NeeDohs. These squishy stress toys are all the rage for their variety of colors, shapes, and even what they’re filled with (like ‘snow’ and glue).
Posted by TikTok user Gabrielllatx, she wrote in the caption that it was the “first time seeing the needoh community irl.” She had stopped at Sam’s Club for a couple of items, not realizing a “NeeDoh drop” was happening.
“The NeeDoh community is going out of control,” Gabriella says in her video. “This is insane.” She pans the camera showing the enormous line that awaits. As she’s strolling through the store, she notes that the line goes “all the way to the back of the store.”
However, she also reveals bad news: “I think they only have a box left.” At the end of her TikTok video, she shows a single pallet of NeeDohs left at checkout. And although they’re usually small, there is no way there’s going to be enough for everyone in line.
NeeDoh obsession continues on in Gabriella’s TikTok video
The NeeDoh craze extended to the comment section of Gabriella’s TikTok video, revealing just how nuts people go for them. Numerous TikTok users shared their NeeDoh hauls, similar lines to Gabriella’s experience, others asking Gabriella what store she was at (presumably to get in before they were all gone).
“2 hour wait but scored 😛,” wrote a TikTok user and sharing a NeeDoh ‘Power Tower’ that included six different types of NeeDohs. This prompted several viewers to beg for a trade, including Gabriella herself who offered to buy the Power Tower.
Another commenter posted two Power Towers they managed to nab during a “silent drop” in Midland, Texas. Despite that, the NeeDoh drop “were still gone in 10mins!!” One user shared a similar experience of a Sam’s Club in Conroe, Texas: “They did this at 4:30pm & no one knew it was happening so I posted it on my local Facebook and it sold out in 30 min.”
And just like with Pokemon cards and graphics cards, scalpers show up for NeeDohs. “Resale value on tik tok $200,” wrote one user, which is insane considering NeeDoh’s ‘Nice Cube’—a tiny NeeDoh—goes for $6. “No kids in sight these resellers are out of control,” a viewer wrote.
It would be interesting to see what lines are like without scalpers, but given how popular NeeDohs are, it probably won’t make much of a difference, anyway. It’s still incredible to see how many people, kids and adults alike, show up to buy as many as possible (or at least as many as a store will allow).
