Did you know that there is going to be another Indiana Jones movie? It wouldn’t be so crazy, except for the part where Harrison Ford is here to play his signature character yet again( the first one was 40 years ago).
Indiana Jones 5 (working title I’m sure) was originally set to release in 2019. There have been some issues and bumps in the road that has it pushed back a little further to 2021.
The screenwriter was reportedly replaced for the film, which isn’t surprising considering the writer was the one behind the most recent Indiana Jones outing. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull didn’t exactly open to rave reviews, and is considered the worst in the series by far. Of course, just to balance out that thought, rumors say that 5 will be a continuation of the Crystal Skull in some way- but that could simply mean just a normal sequel.
So the fifth entry will now release in July of 2021. Disney has done a whole lot of moving around it’s upcoming features apparently, so this may not have to do with any issues the movie itself is having- rather a concerted effort by Disney to have more competitive release windows.
It has been long reported that this installment in the series will not be the end of it, but it will be the end of Harrison Ford’s involvement. By the time 5 comes to theaters, Ford will be close to 80 years old- it is safe to say the man will probably be tired of doing movies by then. Will Spielberg give him the same send off that JJ Abrams did in The Force Awakens?
With Spielberg returning, and the classic movie composer John Williams doing the same- Indiana Jones 5 could be the best one yet. Filming starts next year in the UK.
