A few of us might still be a bit heartbroken due to the GTA 6 delay, but since we know Rockstar Games is cooking something great, we can hang on for a bit more. However, that doesn’t mean there won’t be new things to play, or rather, classic things to experience under a new modern spotlight. Today, Rockstar Games announced that Red Dead Redemption is coming to all modern platforms, including mobile devices and even Netflix. This re-release comes with several graphical upgrades, and to make things better, those who own the game on past platforms will be able to upgrade for free.
Red Dead Redemption Coming to Netflix, iOS, Android, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2
The classic Red Dead Redemption is getting a huge upgrade for modern platforms on December 2. First, it is now coming to current-gen consoles, including the recently released Nintendo Switch 2, but it will also land on iOS, Android devices, and Netflix.
Since this isn’t just a simple re-release, players can expect several graphical improvements and smoother framerate. PS5 and Xbox Series X|S will get 60 FPS at 4K, and Nintendo Switch 2 users a solid 60 FPS, at a higher resolution. It is unclear what resolution the game’s going for on Nintendo’s recent console, however.
If you already own the game on PS4, Xbox One, or Nintendo Switch, the upgrade will be free. The article also mentions that PS4 and Nintendo Switch users will be able to carry their progress over to this new, improved version. And if you are also a GTA+ or PS Plus subscriber, you’ll see this new version in your library on December 2.
Beyond the graphical additions, Red Dead Redemption will also come with Undead Nightmare, which has been one of the most beloved game modes of this title, and one we still hope gets an official release for Red Dead Redemption 2.
While many are still playing through Arthur Morgan’s journey or riding across the wild west in Red Dead Online, it is always a good idea to see the game that started it all, and one that, despite its original release date, has aged like fine wine. So, mark the calendar and prepare to either purchase or upgrade this version because it is one of the best titles Rockstar Games has made.
