According to industry analysts, Sony might be releasing an upgraded version of the PlayStation 5, aka the PlayStation 5 Pro, by the end of 2024. Analysts said to CNBC that the broad consensus in the video game hardware industry is that Sony is getting ready for the release of the PlayStation 5 Pro.
Sony is indeed preparing a launch of a PS5 Pro in the second half of 2024.

One of the main reasons for this hurried launch has to be the release of GTA VI in 2025. And Sony would want its console to be the best place to play the generation-defining game. And in Serkan Toto’s words, the launch of GTA VI will be a shot in the arm for the entire gaming industry.
PlayStation 5 Pro Release Window Is Near The End of 2024
This isn’t the first leak about the PlayStation 5 Pro, since there have been rumbles about its development since 2022. It was originally leaked that the PlayStation 5 Pro was internally referred to as Project Trinity and was targeting a winter 2024-25 release.
This also means that the release windows aren’t entirely set in stone and might be moved around depending on which direction the industry is taking. But this also conflicts with what Sony said recently about the future of PlayStation consoles.
According to Sony, PlayStation 5 sales are dropping and will continue to drop throughout 2023. The reason for this is that there are no real major releases planned for the year, at least not any recognizable franchises. And at the same time, Sony is also releasing new hardware during the biggest dip during the generation.
The only games we know for now are Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding 2, the unannounced stealth espionage game, and Stellar Blade. Other than that, no major titles are on the horizon for Sony’s console. That’s not to say that Sony isn’t doing well, the recent explosive launch of Helldivers 2 has surpassed everyone’s expectations, crossing the concurrent players record of GTA V in the first month.
