The release date has been announced for the upcoming action-adventure game, The Plucky Squire. The cute-looking title is set to release on September 17, 2024, on Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X, PC, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 5. The news comes alongside an announcement that it will be available for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members, as a day-one title for the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog when it releases next month. You can watch the release date announcement video below.

If you haven’t heard of the title before, The Plucky Squire is a colorful adventure game that will see you controlling a storybook hero named Jot. You’ll need to control Jot while alternating between 2D and 3D environments, jumping out of his storybook and venturing into the outside world to save his own from the evil Humgrump. Developed by All Possible Futures and published by Devolver Digital, The Plucky Squire seems to have incredibly varied gameplay that involves you traversing different environments, moving from the 2D of the storybook to the room around you.

It’s good to finally have a release date, as it was previously announced for 2023. PlayStation has been scrounging up quite a few day-one titles for the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog this year, with Tales of Kenzera: Zau and Animal Well coming to the service earlier in the year. Of course, this month’s new PlayStation Plus titles have already been announced with games like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and TimeSplitters coming to the service next week. Somewhat interestingly, a fellow Devolver Digital published title, Cult of the Lamb, is also coming to the service this month.

But, as for The Plucky Squire, you’ll need to wait until it’s released on September 17, 2024, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
