Based on Creative Studio III’s track record, the studio has done many amazing things for the Final Fantasy series. It revived an MMO and brought it to new heights. Then, it moved to make a whole new Final Fantasy entry that, despite what people say about the combat and RPG aspects, was a cinematic marvel with a superb narrative and a masterful soundtrack. And now, it’s bringing back one Final Fantasy game we thought would stay in limbo forever. Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles is finally a reality, and this remaster will bring the classic game we love, but with the two styles fans have grown accustomed to.
Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles Will Let You Choose Between the Modern and Classic Version
Final Fantasy Tactics was initially released in 1997, and War of the Lions launched in 2007. Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles will let you experience both modes, yet they will have a few differences. First, the remaster will include all the additions we saw in War of the Lions and will feature a fully voiced story, a brand-new UI, better visuals, tactical view, battle speed, and new difficulty modes. However, if you want to play the classic version, you can do so while still enjoying some QoL features, such as auto-saving.
This Remaster is a Pretty Big Deal for Final Fantasy Fans
If you’re a new Final Fantasy fan, you might not know why people are making such a big deal about Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles. Yes, it’s not the FFIX remake we’ve been asking for, but baby Chocobo steps, right?
See, back in the day, Final Fantasy Tactics took a different approach to the ATB system and even introduced one of the best job systems in the whole series. On top of that, its story is regarded as one of the best, with many people placing Tactics among the top five best Final Fantasy games.
Yet, the real reason why we’re over the moon about this is that there’s no modern way to experience this game right now. Well, there is a mobile version, but the controls aren’t that friendly. And unless you have one of the old Sony handhelds, there’s no other way to play it. Okay, there might be, but we won’t delve into those shady practices.
But now, this remaster will finally bring some of us to Ivalice, which is one of the greatest settings in the franchise. Furthermore, it won’t be a PlayStation exclusive. Final Fantasy Tactics – The Ivalice Chronicles will launch on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC through Steam. From being available only on a few platforms, it will now be available on all. And it isn’t that far away, with a scheduled release of September 30, 2025.
