Netflix’s The Punisher, the character that first appeared in season 2 of Daredevil, has finished production. After being in production since last October, it’s pretty awesome news that the show is making progress towards its final release date. Not much news has been released since the production of the show began, except for a photo from the set every now and then, so fans can expect more to be released now that production has finished. With Frank Castle on the hunt for some justice, how can we not be excited for an influx of new information regarding the show itself? As for now, all we have is news that production has completed. This info comes from a post on Twitter, seen below.

Some cast and crew surround Jon Bernthal at the wrap party, all sporting smiles and goofy expressions. This can be construed as good news, especially considering the bad reviews given to the most recent Netflix superhero adaption, Iron Fist. These pictures tell me that the cast and crew made the show they set out to make when they first began production last October, regardless of any pressures they may have felt after hearing of the first failure from a Marvel show airing on Netflix. We shall see what The Punisher has in store for us when it’s released.
No set release date has been given for the show yet. Considering that they just finished obtaining the actual footage, the crew probably doesn’t have a good idea on how long it will take them to get it prepared for the final release. Not yet, at least. I’m sure we’ll hear more about The Punisher’s release date in upcoming weeks.
Steve Lightfoot wrote the first two episodes of the show, and he also serves as the showrunner and executive producer. It’ll come as no surprise that Jeph Loeb and Jim Chory are also executive producers for the show. Both have served as executive producers for past Marvel shows, including Jessica Jones, Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist. Both also served as executive producers for the critically acclaimed show, Legion, which just finished up its first season on FX a couple weeks ago.
The Defenders is also set to be released at some point; season 1 of The Punisher somehow fitting before, into, or after that series. The second season of Jessica Jones and the third season of Daredevil are also set to come out but both have no release date as of now. It’s assumed that The Defenders will come before anything else Marvel related is released on Netflix (considering the recently released teaser showing our heroes on an elevator together). That’s definitely OK with me!
