The Rogue Prince of Persia was revealed a little over a month ago with a May release date. The original trailer was lovingly dubbed the Pink of Persia due to the character designs and was well received by fans of the series and Dead Cells. The release date was then pushed back. Now, The Rogue Prince of Persia has gotten another well-animated trailer that announces the game’s early access release while showing some more gameplay details.
Evil Empire has garnered a lot of love from fans after nearly perfecting the Metroidvania formula with the procedural nature of Dead Cells. The upcoming game puts the prince in an action-platforming roguelite genre where he is fighting in the capital city, trying to stop the invasion of the dark magic-wielding Hun.
The Rogue Prince of Persia was originally planned for release on May 14 but was pushed back because it would have had to compete with the extremely successful Hades 2. After the release of today’s trailer, the game is available on early access on PC through Steam. The new release date for The Rogue Prince of Persia has not been revealed at the time of writing. Although the early access build is only available on PC, it is very likely, considering the past releases of Evil Empire, that the full release of the game will be on consoles as well.
Ubisoft has been doubling down on Prince of Persia games after the demand for remakes of the 3D trilogy. Ubisoft has moved the development of the Sands of Time Remake completely in-house, while it has worked with other developers to make spin-offs like The Rogue Prince of Persia from Evil Empire, and the fan-favorite Prince of Persia The Lost Crown.
The developers were taken aback by the positive response from fans, which just goes to show how much gamers miss the Prince of Persia series.
