Florida Rep. Anna Paulina Luna accused China of fueling Democrats’ far left, drawing criticism over alleged Russian influence on MAGA. Her remarks circulated on X, where critics challenged her focus on Democrats and questioned foreign influence over Republicans. During the interview, Luna also called for mandatory disclosures from social media influencers receiving payments from foreign governments.
The congresswoman said she had urged House leadership to introduce legislation requiring such disclosures. She also raised concerns about bot farming and accused social media platforms of failing to enforce their own rules. “We have an issue with bot farming online on social media,” she said.
To support her allegations, Luna identified Neville Roy Singham as one of the major funders behind left-wing political activity. She linked him to the Democratic Socialists of America and the Party for Socialism and Liberation. According to Luna, Singham was in China and avoiding a congressional subpoena.
She argued that addressing foreign influence required greater transparency about who funds political messaging. Luna also predicted that mandatory disclosures would trigger changes within the Democratic Party’s grassroots movement.
Anna Paulina Luna Faces Questions Over MAGA’s Alleged Russian Ties
The discussion raised questions about whether Luna’s proposed scrutiny of foreign influence would extend to Republicans.
“The Russians have been funding MAGA for a decade,” one user claimed. Another questioned whether Luna would apply the same standards to Republicans, asking, “Would you advocate investigating MAGA because of the foreign influence it’s received?”
Others challenged her characterization of the Democratic left. “So which congressional candidates are far-left wing?” one response asked. A separate commenter questioned the changing political labels, writing, “Wait, wasn’t it socialist last week? Marxist before that?”
However, some viewers supported Luna’s remarks. “Thank you! How were they allowed to slide in under the D ticket?” one user wrote. Another praised her position, stating, “That’s about as clear-minded a take as I’ve heard from a politician in quite some time.”
It remains unclear whether House leadership will bring Luna’s proposed foreign-payment disclosure legislation forward.
