Deck13 Spotlight and Super Sexy Software have announced the release date of their psychological thriller, The Shattering. With that, the release date has been set for April 21st. The Shattering is the work of five friends, initially developed in 2013 by Marta Szymańska.
Marta studied the contrast between white and black in horror entertainment games and culture. The Shattering draws on core themes such as the absence of information, hence it’s stylistic black and white design. The Shattering also focuses on the idea of its white landscape instead of the darkness, and unseen enemies.
In the description of The Shattering via the Steam store, it reads: ‘You can’t remember anything. All you see is white around you. You hear a voice. You see a watch, swinging slowly in front of your eyes’.
The Shattering focuses on the mind of John Evans, a man who struggles to decipher fragments of his life, past and present. Soon, there’s the challenge between deciding what is real and not.
Guided by the voice of a Doctor, John is taken deeper into his psyche to learn the truth of his life and most importantly, as reiterated in the description, remember her name.
The Shattering boasts rather minimal, yet captivatingly beautiful black and white aesthetics, all of which accommodate its five-act story of John Evans.
Deck13 Interactive is one of Germany’s top developers. Their studios and team are located in Frankfurt.
The Shattering teamed up with Super Sexy Software, based in Switzerland, Poland, and France. Led by Marta Szymańska, the team is made up of Arkadiusz Burczyk, Katarzyna Kozłowska, Matt Rusiniak, and Timothée Dorr.
