It’s yet another Thursday which means it’s time for yet another free game to come to the Epic Games Store. Last week offered up a surprising level of goodies in Horizon Chase Turbo and Sonic Mania. Nothing like some modern versions of classics to get us feeling nostalgic. I’ve picked them up, though they’ve admittedly been added to the endless backlog I need to desperately work through. One day they’ll be played. Regardless of my tangent, those looking for yet another free game can get excited as the adventure puzzler The Spectrum Retreat is now available for free on the Epic Games Store! It’ll be followed up next week by Bridge Constructor: The Walking Dead and Ironcast.

The Spectrum Retreat Launch Trailer | PC | PS4 | Xbox One | Nintendo Switch |

The Spectrum Retreat sees players enter the retreat of the same name, unknowing of how or why you’re here. All you have is a radio voice to help guide you along. As you go about your routine of getting some food, hanging out in its various rooms, and getting some rest, things begin to get a little strange. With the voice’s help though, you may be able to discover what’s really going on. Solve color-coded puzzles, speak to the retreat’s rather strange residents, and piece together the truth in this (free) adventure puzzler!

Strangely enough, this is a game that I’ve tackled and can say isn’t half bad. It isn’t going to be the greatest puzzle game you’ve ever played, or the most unique, but what’s there is definitely worth your time. Learning about the nature of this retreat and piecing together the answers yourself can be a satisfying and enjoyable experience. Plus, it can bide your time as next week’s duo of games hits the free game shelf.

Will you be getting The Spectrum Retreat for free on the Epic Games Store? Are you excited about either of the games next week? Let me know!
