Besides peanut butter and jelly, the other two things that go perfectly together are Owlcat Games and the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Rogue Trader has been, undoubtedly, one of the best cRPGs the studio has cooked up, and one that keeps getting better with each new DLC. Yet, that game is far from over because Owlcat Games has already teased some of the things coming to Rogue Trader. Furthermore, we now have more information regarding the next 40k cRPG, which is Dark Heresy. So, yes, it is safe to say that Owlcat Games is once again ready to rule the cRPG market with not one, but two fantastic games.
Rogue Trader Keeps Growing

Before delving into Dark Heresy, which will be the new kid on the block, let’s talk about Rogue Trader, the most recent cRPG under Owlcat Games’ catalog, and one that keeps drawing players in for their first adventure or their 10th playthrough. While there isn’t a release date yet or specific details about it, we learned some details regarding the upcoming DLC, which will focus on Act 5, add a new companion, and even allow you to replace your body parts with augments.
So far, every DLC for Rogue Trader has been terrific, so we imagine this won’t be the exception. Still, the developers mentioned that this one might not be as deep in terms of gameplay as the previous DLCs, but let’s face it: almost every DLC that Owlcat Games does for its games is always fantastic, so we’re excited to try it out whenever it launches.
Dark Heresy Drops More Information About Its Investigation-Focused Gameplay
It may seem weird to have two cRPGs set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, but Dark Heresy is doing things a bit differently compared to Rogue Trader. For starters, Owlcat Games’ Executive Producer, Anatoly Shestov, mentioned how the environment will play a much more prominent role in gameplay and investigations. For the former, players can expect better cover mechanics and a more responsive environment in combat. In terms of investigations, you can already see in the trailer that there are a lot of things players can use to solve some of the cases, assuming they pass some skill checks.
Shestov also mentioned that there will be expanded role-playing options, with players having more ways to resolve a conflict or complete an objective. We’ve already seen some examples of it in the recent footage, but we’re excited to see it in action soon.
In any case, 2026 seems like a huge year for Warhammer 40k and cRPG fans. Owlcat Games keeps surprising us with fantastic titles that just become deeper with each new entry. We can confidently say that Dark Heresy will likely become the best Warhammer cRPG, but while we wait, there are still many things to do in Rogue Trader, especially with a potential DLC on the way.
