The Witcher New Game in the Series
This article is over 3 years old and may contain outdated information.

While it likely doesn’t need much of an introduction, The Witcher series (and especially The Witcher 3) is one of the most infamous game series out there, and for good reason. Sporting best-in-class visuals, a fantastic story, and plenty of memorable moments in between, its earned its name among some of the greatest video games out there. While there hasn’t been a new installment in the franchise due to a focus on Cyberpunk 2077 and its development, today that all changes. CD Projekt Red is excited to announce that The Witcher has a new game in development, currently set for an unknown release date and release window. You can find out more details over at the official website.

While the website is understandably overloaded at the moment, we can glean a few details if we access it (special thanks to the replies of the above tweet for helping out). The next entry in The Witcher game series will be built around a partnership with Epic Games through the use of their state-of-the-art Unreal Engine 5, using the partnership to tailor the engine towards a formidable open-world experience. Don’t worry though, this by no way means that the game is Epic Games Store exclusive as you may have guessed. Those of you who would much rather have the game on Steam can rest easy.

It’s also important to note that while nothing is explicitly stated, the announcement has the headline of “A New Saga Begins”, meaning that this may be the start of a brand new set of games as a sequel trilogy of sorts. Again, don’t take that as confirmation, though the announcement alludes to it. Either way, the team was hesitant to share additional details, so you’ll likely have to wait a good while to hear more.

We’d like to hear from you though. Are you excited for a new game in The Witcher universe? What sort of direction would you wish to see the game taken? Let us know!
