The original iteration of Telltale Games was a studio with a good handful of memorable stories, taking the narrative fanbase by storm with its dark stories and memorable characters. I don’t think either Lee or Clementine from The Walking Dead need any sort of introduction if you’re at all familiar with the games. The Wolf Among Us was just one of those games, bringing some classic fairy tale characters into a noir detective thriller that worked excellently upon release. After two years of waiting for the sequel since its announcement in 2019 though, some may be wondering what happened to the game and in what state it’s in. Well, today you have that answer. The new Telltale Games (after their shutdown in 2018 and their rebirth a year later) have debuted the first trailer for their action-packed The Wolf Among Us 2, which you can find below!
The trailer starts us off with a fairly classic TWAU story, as Bigby goes after a wanted criminal entering a dingy motel in the middle of the night. As he enters uninvited though and shows his handcuffs, those he’s after aren’t too happy. And by not too happy, I mean throwing Bigby through several walls and beating him senseless. But of course, this is Bigby right? He dishes out some pain too. When he gets too frustrated with his futile attempts to arrest these fable criminals, his natural wolf instincts manifest into the Wolf we all know and love from the first game.
But alas, the game appears to be showing a somewhat different tone from the first game. This time around, Bigby’s working to control the anger that builds inside him heavily during these fights. In fact, we find him in the middle of an Anger Management course, working hesitantly through his problems with the head of this group. This indicates a key focus of the story being Bigby controlling his manifesting anger, though we’ll need to wait for 2023 to properly see it for ourselves.
What are your thoughts on the first trailer for The Wolf Among Us 2? Are you excited? Let me know!
