Prince Harry makes an appearance at the WellChild Awards in the UK, where he not only touched lives but also had the favor returned with heartwarming encounters. The 40-year-old, who has been Patron of the WellChild Awards for sixteen years returned to the UK this week to attend this year’s awards held at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London. The awards celebrate seriously ill children, and everyone contributes their quota to give them a deserving quality of life, both health-wise and education-wise.
After presenting awards to outstanding kids and caregivers in the lineup and addressing the audience, Prince Harry had one-on-one encounters with some exceptional kids at the WellChild Awards. The prince had an especially inspiring moment with a 10-year-old girl, Scarlett, living with severe brain malfunction and extensive spinal syrinx.
Harry and Meghan Receive Special Awards From an Inspiring Kid In UK
The youngster earned her spot on the awards list thanks to her generosity and zeal for putting a smile on others’ faces. Scarlett, who despite her condition gives back to society by saving up her pocket money to purchase new toys for hospital wards extended her benevolence to Harry on Monday. She gifted the Duke of Sussex a glass heart, saying she thought to let him have it because he did not receive any awards like the rest of them. A touched Harry quickly replied,
“My reward is being here with you guys.”
Regardless, the Duke graciously accepted the gift. Scarlett even thoughtfully added three extra glass hearts, one each for Meghan Markle, Archie, and Lilibeth. The 10-year-old explained the hearts were filled with love, and he could squeeze them whenever he got sad.
Prince Harry Lightens Up With Laughter During Touching Encounter With Youngster
Prince Harry had a second uplifting encounter with another kid at the WellChild Awards in the UK. While fraternizing with the ill children and their parents at the event. The prince encountered 7-year-old Noah Nicholson, from Grimsby living with complex medical conditions. The youngster, seemingly mesmerized by the Prince grabbed his beard and cheek during their discussion. The boy’s reaction caused Harry’s face to lighten up, bursting into a hearty laugh.
In his address, Matt James, the WellChild’s chief executive noted that the Duke’s presence was a big deal in helping them achieve the major aim of the awards. He noted,
“It does two things, it allows us to give our inspiring winners a night they will never forget, a night that will always stay with them. But also, it provides us with a platform to tell their stories which is really important for a group of families whose challenges often go unrecognized and misunderstood.”
Through their actions, Scarlett and Noah reenacted that message, proving that one could choose to appreciate the beauty of life regardless of position, circumstances, or challenges. These two most certainly got a night neither they nor the world would be quick to forget.
