If you understand anything about common courtesy, then you know to stay at home when you’re sick. If you didn’t understand it already, you probably knew its importance with the emergence of COVID. However, some people lack that common courtesy, and it’s incredibly annoying. A New Jersey woman was shocked when she realized that a woman who could be carrying the flu was out and about enjoying her day as normal. It goes to show just how inconsiderate so many people are these days.
Jessica (@jpittius) was at the salon just trying to enjoy getting her hair done, as so many of us have done before. However, the woman next to her was talking to her and told her something surprising. Jessica explains that the woman “told me her entire family has the stomach bug and she’s next.” Jessica said this made her question why the woman decided it would be a good idea to travel and be around other people while knowing this. If your entire family is ill and you could be infected, why would you possibly spread that illness to others? It’s incredibly inconsiderate but also dangerous.
As Jessica asks, “No, because why are people like this?!” If you’re a parent or you work in an office setting, you probably already understand. There are constantly people sending their sick children to school, bringing illnesses home to entire households. Sometimes, these households are vulnerable and are doing everything they can to avoid illness. The same can be said for adults in office settings. They don’t want to take time off or use PTO, so they come into the office and infect everybody in their vicinity. It’s such a cruel practice and shows how little people care for others.
As one commenter shared, “I literally hate when people announce that they are sick. I instantly get anxiety and can’t enjoy whatever I’m doing.” Another commenter said, “My husband has a 102 degree fever. My son and I have no symptoms and are perfectly fine. I cancelled my nail appointment the second he took his temp yesterday.” This is the way. Unfortunately, not everybody sees it that way, and that makes them discourteous and, well, a jerk.
