The banking company Wells Fargo has been under fire for various reasons in recent years. Unfortunately, for them, their track record continues to precede them as the company is found to create even more issues with customers’ finances. A California celebrity stylist shares her recent experience with the bank and the events that followed.
It’s terrifying to know that these sorts of situations are capable of happening to the average American citizen, especially during a time when having access to your own funds is more important than ever.
The above video was posted to the TikTok page @ebonybrownstyle, which belongs to a celebrity stylist named Ebony Brown. She uses her platform to bring attention to an incident that happened when trying to withdraw funds from her Wells Fargo account. She prefaces the story by explaining that the purpose of the account is so that she can have her bills on autopay and include her mother as an authorized user to make her eligible for a credit card.
She then goes on to share how she checked her account only to discover that none of the funds were transferable and that there was a hold. After calling the bank, a representative allegedly told her that there was a fraud alert that popped up, which was why the hold was there. However, she explains that she was able to verify all the transactions, confirming none of them to be fraudulent.
Ebony is then asked to have the account’s authorized user give them all for authorization. Even after her mother called them to confirm her identity, Ebony was reportedly denied access to her account and was instead prompted to visit a physical branch for authorized use. Unfortunately, her mother is unable to physically make it to a branch, and Ebony asked for a reasonable accommodation, which was reportedly denied.
Her TikTok account has various other posts that further detail the situation, even the point where she physically walked into a Wells Fargo location and had a run-in with authorities. Fortunately, she was able to get her money after lengthy deliberations, but it should never have been that way to begin with.
She then goes on to allege that this is a systematic targeting of women, specifically those who use the major bank. According to her statement, “They’re making up excuses to restrict women’s bank accounts and making it impossible to access your money. Ladies it’s time to move to credit unions.”
California Celebrity Stylist Calls Out Wells Fargo
Commenters were just as upset as Ebony was, with one person even bringing up an excellent point about the situation in saying, “Remember WF is the bank that locked Wendy Willams out of her money.” Other people were a little bit more direct and called the situation as they saw it, likely having worked at a bank at some point in their lives, and saying, “They loaned your money to other people and need time to steal from someone else 😏“
It’s great that Ebony was able to stand her ground and get her money, though she should never have been subject to this to begin with. Hopefully, this isn’t anything she ever has to deal with again.
