ICE agents are quite literally everywhere in Minnesota. While the majority of them were walking around in their gear and sometimes even holding weapons, there were also some ICE agents who were more low-key. One Minnesota man noticed a man who looked very suspicious because he had a whited-out rear plate and no front plate. The Minnesota man understandably began to suspect the man was an ICE agent in plain clothes. He then began taking pictures of the van and calling it suspicious, which made the alleged ICE agent angry.
When confronted, the ICE agent questioned why the man found his car suspicious, but raised more suspicion by using the man’s last name. The Minnesota man asked how the ICE agent knew his name and why his car plate was hidden. He also revealed that the ICE agent had been following him this whole time. The agent insisted that he was a construction salesman and not ICE, but the fact that he knew the Minnesota man’s last name was unnerving. The ICE agent finally left the man alone and drove his van away.
The internet was also disturbed by what they saw when the Minnesota man shared the video on Reddit. The majority agreed that the man was likely ICE, since this wasn’t the first time that ICE agents were in plain clothes and then claimed to be some construction worker. Not too long ago, there was a group of ICE agents monitoring a business in Minnesota while hiding inside a rented car that had fake business decals on it. Of course, the other person who saw the car wasn’t buying it either and called them out on it. Though unlike this ICE agent, those agents weren’t hiding very well, since they also covered their faces.
“This is disturbing. I haven’t said it for a while, but it’s a very real possibility that ICE is planning a violent purge of protesters,” one user said. Others asked whether the Minnesota man reported the alleged ICE agent to a police officer. The man replied that he did, but the police claimed that there was nothing they could do. “I did send all of what I have to our State Attorney General, though, as he is collecting evidence for the lawsuit he has against ICE/DHS,” the Minnesota man explained.
Others were more disturbed that the ICE agent could easily identify the Minnesota man and call him by his last name. Some users speculated about how that information could have been obtained and questioned whether certain surveillance technologies were being used. “Pretty sure they are using portable stingrays / IMSI catchers in conjunction with some sort of real-time database from Palantir at this point,” one commenter wrote.
