In a weird turn of events, a day out enjoying pickleball in Utah turned into a horror story when a friend group discovered one of their own locked in a public bathroom. It wasn’t a simple case of the stall being stuck; he was locked in a single-stall bathroom with a pretty impressive lock. The video quickly attracted attention online, with viewers expressing everything from sympathy to newfound fears about using public restrooms. Others joked that the entire situation could have been avoided if pickleball had never become popular in the first place.
The video above begins with the person recording asking a little boy who was nearby and asking, “is he stuck?” in reference to her male friend named Hans. Hans quickly answered, stating that he was having trouble with the door.
According to another person who was with them, the group continued playing pickleball for some time after he went to the bathroom, before realizing he had disappeared. As one commenter pointed out, ““we played 3 games and then went 🤔where hans? “ lmao.”
Judging by the video footage, the lock mechanism appears to have completely failed, leaving Hans stuck with no obvious way out. The rest of the video shows various people coming by to see if they could get Hans out themselves. One person even tried putting a card through the crack between the door and the doorframe to see if that would help move the lock.
Eventually, firefighters had to be called to the scene to rescue the stranded pickleball player. The video then shows emergency responders arriving and working to break the lock mechanism and free Hans.
Comments and Reactions Towards Man Trapped in Utah Public Bathroom
While the entire ordeal ultimately became a funny story among friends, many commenters noted that situations like this can quickly become serious, especially if someone lacks access to a phone or the area is isolated.
One commenter wrote, “This is the reason I never go anywhere alone without my phone.” Similarly, another person wrote, “I always thought this was my irrational fear. Turns out it’s rational lol.”
Others questioned the group’s priorities, with another commenter writing, “I’m concerned that they played 3 games THEN thought of him.” Fortunately, Hans was able to get out of the bathroom with nothing more than a memorable story and an appreciation for the buddy system. As one commenter joked, “and this kids is why the buddy system is so important🤣😂🤣.”
