A North Carolina Airbnb host is going viral for all the wrong reasons after attempting to shame a guest who abruptly canceled her stay, but TikTok users were quick to side with the guest instead. In a now-viral video shared by the host, the user shows off a well-manicured lawn and the cleaned-up Airbnb property with a caption that reads, “We worked all day preparing for our Farm Airbnb Guest only for her to get here and leave within the first 5 minutes!!!”
As the video continues, the host adds, “So our Airbnb guest got here and canceled within 5 minutes and just left. Said there was no way that she could stay somewhere like this because she saw this” as the camera zooms in on a prominently displayed Trump/Vance sign on the property.
The video seemed intended to mock the guest for allegedly being intolerant of differing political views. But the internet wasn’t having it. Instead of shaming the guest, TikTok users flooded the comments with support for her decision to leave. “You chose to put your values in full view. So did she,” one user wrote. Another added, “You’re free to make your own decisions, but not free from the consequences of those decisions.”
North Carolina Airbnb Host Tries to Shame Guest for Leaving Over Trump Sign, But It Backfires Big Time
Many pointed out that choosing where to stay and what businesses to support is not just a financial decision but a personal one rooted in safety and values. “I would not feel safe there either,” one person commented bluntly. “And I hope she leaves a review to warn other people,” another said. The reactions didn’t stop there. “I don’t financially support any businesses that I know for certain are racists, sexists or bigots either. Seems reasonable to me,” one TikTok user wrote.
While the host may have expected sympathy or outrage on their behalf, they instead sparked a viral lesson in consequences, especially when politics and business collide as other social media users took an even firmer stance, writing things such as “We back HER, NOT you!” and “Absolutely. This woman stands on morals, principles, and decency.”
Trump’s History of Sexist Comments and Legal Controversy
The backlash over the Airbnb host’s Trump/Vance sign also reflects broader public concern about President Donald Trump‘s long history of controversial and sexist remarks. Trump has faced criticism for a number of inflammatory comments over the years. In a now-infamous 2005 recording released during the 2016 presidential campaign, Trump was caught on tape saying he could “grab [women] by the p-ssy,” a remark that sparked widespread condemnation. He later dismissed the statement as “locker room talk.”

He has also made remarks about women’s appearances, including publicly rating women’s looks, calling journalist Megyn Kelly “crazy” and Rosie O’Donnell a “fat pig,” among other derogatory terms. These incidents have led many to view Trump as a symbol of values they strongly oppose, particularly when it comes to women’s rights, equality, and personal safety, making the presence of his political signs a powerful deterrent for some travelers.
