In the new age of social media, specifically TikTok, viewers find many new types of content interesting. More recently, the kind of content that takes off includes getting ready with the creator or recording hauls of things they purchased. One creator decided to take it upon herself to do an entire video featuring both. However, the catch was that this influencer, Marlena Velez, also recorded herself purchasing their haul from Target. Now, everyone on TikTok has their eyes on her after discovering that she did not actually pay for any of the items she allegedly purchased from the store.

TikTok creator Marlena Velez has over 350,000 followers on the platform and primarily focuses on both a color aesthetic (white and brown) and general vlogs. Most recently, she posted a ‘Get Ready With Me’ clip that showcases her spending an excessive amount of money on items at Target. The video goes over the entirety of the trip, from her walking in, paying at the self-checkout area, and loading the items into her car. It wasn’t until after she had recorded the video that her followers got wind of what happened because Target themselves posted an image asking people to try and identify her for theft.

It appears that when she went to the self-checkout area, she scanned barcodes with different prices on them instead of scanning the items in her cart. This allowed her to look as though she was scanning the items from the point of view of the camera that records every sale. The thing with Target is that they do not play when it comes to shoplifting and will do everything they can to prosecute to the furthest extent of the law.

“why do ppl keep stealing from target DO NOT FUCK W TARGET they will go after you !!!”

In the end, Marlena Velez was arrested because the items stolen were amassed $500, and the evidence was just too damning. The video has since been removed from her TikTok page, and all her comments have been turned off. It seems that this is something that she will likely not repeat soon.
