TikToker Calls Out North Carolina Beachgoers for Ignoring Warnings And Jeopardizing Rescuers: ’50 people at one beach?’

Don’t just keep swimming!

TikTok creator addresses brazen North Carolina beachgoers.

Hurricane Erin is making her rounds. Much to the dismay of those trying to soak in the last bits of summer 2025, storm warnings have been issued for many U.S. beaches. North Carolina is high on the list of popular coastal locations now under red flag advisories. Unfortunately, many have been flocking to the beach and ignoring the risks when it comes to the water. One TikTok creator, who goes by the handle @tidewatertrop, has called them all out for what she deems “stupidity” against a raging sea.

Despite red flags flying at Wrightsville Beach today due to dangerous rip currents, up to 50 water rescues have already been reported by Wrightsville Beach Ocean Rescue #hurricaneerin #eastcoast #hurricaneseason2025 #weatherupdate #greenscreen

On August 18th, she took to her channel to address the swimmers at North Carolina’s renowned Wrightsville Beach. In only one day, 50 rip current rescues were reportedly needed. Too many refused to stay out of the ocean. Tidewatertrop, who has listed herself as a law student and storm tracker, kept her smile on while asking, “Are you **cking stupid? I hope all fifty of you mother**ckers are okay. I do. I really do.” She goes on to say, “It is so sad when people don’t heed warnings, and face consequences. But those warnings are there for a reason.”

North Carolina Rescuers At Risk

Armed with stern humor, @tidewatertrop didn’t hesitate to call out the foolishness of putting a summer vacation above one’s public safety: “Everybody just wants to have their perfect jet-to holiday. Please stay y’all asses out of the water. Like I said earlier, I would not put my damn toe in a mud puddle.”

She also pointed out a critical oversight by every North Carolina swimmer who made the decision to challenge not just Mother Nature, but the alerts put in place to protect them: “You need to hang it up and set it down. Seriously, ’cause when you all do shit like this – when you all go swimming despite the warnings – it puts other people at jeopardy. Somebody had to go save each of those 50 **cking people. Their life was on the line 50 **cking times today!”

Commenters seemed to agree. A viewer even updated that the rescues needed had risen to 70. “Are people really this stupid?” she asked, before joking she’d see her way out.

Until the worst of Hurricane Erin is behind us, hopefully, video clips will get attention. No one in North Carolina – or in any other state – needs to drown for the sake of summer fun, or be the cause of someone else drowning in their place. Agree or disagree?
