Taking one’s car in for repairs or maintenance can be a hassle, but some dealerships make sure their customers drive comfortably before getting their ride back. That said, TikToker Ava Brinton received a very pleasant surprise when her dealership gave her a $50K BMW as a loaner vehicle while hers was in service. Posting to TikTok to show off her fancy temporary ride, the caption read, “Chat this is my LOANER car while mine’s getting worked on.” The camera panned about the interior, displaying the clean, cozy interior of the 2023 BMW 330i.
“Who let me drive this thing 😭 They want me to upgrade 🤣” exclaimed Brinton in disbelief. In the comments, she noted that her car in service is a 2015 BMW 328i, “so this is quite an upgrade from mine,” she expressed. If you search Google, the 2023 330i she was driving can be found at starting prices in the low to mid $40Ks. However, she claims that this particular BMW model the dealership provided her with costs over $50K. “Sticker’s 51 on this one,” she said in response to a doubter about the car’s price.
“I swear they do this as a sales tactic,” a commenter sighed, retelling the story of how she was also given a nice loaner when her car was getting repaired. “Within a week of getting my old car back, I bought a new one,” she concluded. “It’s genius because I loved my loaner so much I bought it lol,” claimed another. “That’s the whole point!!!” exclaimed a third. Brighton said she took “a nice long walk around the lot” before leaving the dealership, implying how she, too, was tempted to purchase a new car as a result of this experience.
Of course, not everyone felt thrilled about the thought of being given a luxury car they couldn’t keep forever. “I hate when the dealership makes me feel broke,” moans a user. “I’d cry having to take it back 😩😩😩,” another sadly wrote. Whatever the case, at least the TikToker got to have a taste of luxury for a car she might consider purchasing down the road. For now, though, she has her 10-year-old 2015 BMW 328i, which has a current resale value of $7K-ish. That’s quite the stark contrast from the $50K+ loaner BMW.
