Timothee Chalamet has earned the adoration of fans worldwide for not taking himself seriously. The actor, whose relationship with Kylie Jenner caused bad PR lately, changed the tides with a surprise appearance at a look-alike contest.
On Sunday, Chalamet showed up at Madison Square Park in NYC, where hundreds of fans gathered. In viral videos, several doppelgängers posed for a picture when Chalamet, flanked by bodyguards, strolled in. One of the contestants looked visibly surprised, seeing the Dune actor while the crowd erupted in cheers. After briefly interacting and posing for photos, the 28-year-old exited the venue. Dressed in a casual sweater and pants, the actor’s new mustache made him look quite unrecognizable.
Unfortunately, Chalamet’s presence was soon followed by police dispersal. Authorities ordered the crowd to leave and, in the process, arrested one doppelganger. Additionally, they hit the organizers of the event with a $500 fine for an “unpermitted costume contest.” A producer for Anthony Po, who organized the event, told AP News, “It started off as a silly joke, and now it’s turned pandemonium.” However, the police intervention wasn’t enough to halt the competition. The group of fans went to a nearby playground, where they decided on a winner. 21-year-old Miles Mitchell, who dressed as Chalamet’s Wonka character, emerged victorious.
Timothee Chalamet Hailed For Being ‘Always Nice’ To Fans
Timothee Chalamet’s appearance sparked excitement. Days before the event, fans had joked online that the actor could do the “funniest thing” by showing up. To their surprise, he did just that. “He had the opportunity to do the funniest thing, and he did it,” gushed one fan. A second comment read, “Love to see it. This is the kind of silly celebrity behavior I endorse.” A third fan declared on Reddit:
“I commented a few weeks ago that I hoped he would show up, so I’m pleasantly surprised by Timmy-T making an appearance.”
A fourth remark read, “Lol.. yes. He is always nice to his fans.” Timothee Chalamet’s fans won’t forget that fateful day in such a long time.
