Todd Chrisley has suffered a new setback during his prison stay. The reality star, who is serving a 12-year sentence for bank fraud and tax evasion, got fired from his job. However, the circumstances surrounding the loss don’t seem so straightforward to fans.
The prison authorities removed Todd from his job as an Assistant to the Chaplain, says his attorney, Jay Surgent. Surgent claimed his client didn’t get “an actual reason for his dismissal.” However, they fired him for talking to participants of the Residential Drug Abuse Program. The patriarch served for almost two years, and the Chaplain had no problem with him. Hence, why he couldn’t understand the firing.
As part of the termination conditions, Todd won’t be able to access the small office in the chapel where he did his volunteer work. Surgent told People Magazine his client is “very disappointed and upset.” However, his faith remains steadfast.
“[It] has not affected his firm belief that in the end, God will work things out for him, Julie, and his family.”
Fans React To Todd Chrisley’s Termination From Prison Job
The news of Todd’s firing has fans of Chrisley Knows Best confused. Many have come up with theories as to why the convicted reality star lost his job. One fan wondered on Reddit, “Is he cheating on Julie with a male inmate? He probably wont like other jobs available.” A second comment read:
“It sounds like he didn’t follow the rules laid out. Even if he had good intentions, it’s a recurring theme where he seems to think he is above the law. And yes, I would say that is doing something wrong.”
A third fan asked, “Wow, what’s the crime in being chatty…. In prison, out of all places?” As fans seek clarity, a rep for the Federal Bureau of Prisons told TMZ, “For privacy reasons, we do not comment on the conditions of confinement for any incarcerated individual, including their work detail assignments.”
