Todd Howard knows exactly what fans are begging for, and he isn’t pretending otherwise. In a recent interview with Dexerto, the Bethesda director openly acknowledged the nonstop demand for Fallout 3 and New Vegas remasters. Nevertheless, he’d rather keep quiet and for fans to wait until the studio can reveal more — or even drop them outright with minimal buildup.
Asked point-blank about the avalanche of remaster comments during the Fallout Day stream in October, Howard didn’t dodge. “I think, well, first thing is we get it right. We see all those comments,” he said.
But while the acknowledgment is there, the details aren’t. Howard made it clear the studio simply isn’t ready to talk about anything yet. “We’re working on a whole bunch of stuff, and we look forward to the day that we can reveal them,” Howard added.

He explained that he prefers players to “wait” and learn about a game as close as possible to the moment they get to play it. He pointed to theOblivion Remastered shadowdrop as a “good” example of how a tight launch date can sharpen excitement. “Sometimes that means we just don’t talk about stuff for years,” he admitted.
That wait-and-see stance and careful phrasing have become something of a Howard trademark lately. In a separate interview, he confirmed that The Elder Scrolls 6 is still “a long way off.” “I like to just announce stuff and release it,” Howard added, again, referring to Oblivion Remastered.
Howard also teased the Fallout TV series‘ expanding scope. Season 3, which will start filming in Summer 2026, will have far more freedom than any single game. It even comes with the ability to jump timelines and locations across the entire franchise.
“I don’t wanna spoil anything, but what I would say is the show has an opportunity more so than a single game to pull things because we can jump locations, we can jump timelines,” explained Howard.
