Peter Parker and Miles Morales might share some spider like tendencies, but that doesn’t mean they both have the same set of skills to choose from. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 featured not one, not two, but three extensive skill trees to pick and choose from. It can seem daunting at first, as you can’t respec, and you also can’t try moves out before earning them. We will break down the top 10 best skills to pick first in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and do the thinking for you.

10. Slingshot Launch

This is the classic slingshot that so many fans always request first in most Spider-Man games, only to be let down by its exclusion. This time around, the Shared Skill Tree lets you select this skill right off the bat. Pick it up to launch yourself across the city and use the web wings for maximum velocity.

9. Web Line Double Takedown

This skill is a must-have for any stealth Spidey players out there. This upgrade allows you to Takedown two enemies at once and is a lifesaver in tough missions where you have to infiltrate and use stealth. This is in the Shared Skill Tree.

8. Loop De Loop

This new skill allows you to dive and use a web line to perform a massive loop de loop, gather a ton of momentum, then launch yourself. If you use this combined with the Slingshot, you can traverse the entire city without ever touching the ground.

7. Symbiote Yank (Peter Parker Exclusive)

This skill can’t be earned until you earn the Symbiote suit and powers about a third way through the storyline, but it’s a devastating skill. This ability will let Spider-Man grab a lot of enemies, lift them straight up, and slam them with force. This move even works on bosses like Kraven and Venom.

6. Surge: Ready to Glow (Peter Parker Exclusive)

This ability will essentially supercharge Peters’s ultimate ability, the Symbiote Surge. While activating this ability with L3+R3, you will instantly recharge all of your abilities and gadgets. This will help you clear out any enemies that survive the initial onslaught.

5. Bio-Siphon (Miles Morales Exclusive)

Bio-Siphon is a fantastic skill. Anytime Miles attacks a Venom-stunned target, he recharges all of his abilities. If you use it right, you can stun an enemy with a move and attack them enough to refill the ability before it wears off, creating a nice little feedback loop.

4. Heavy Lifting

This skill is on the Shared Skill Tree, and it lets you easily throw Brute enemies around once they are stunned or covered in webs. This will allow you to control the battle, and every big enemy will have no chance at doing anything except flailing their arms like madmen trying to stop you.

3. KO Recharge

This is also an upgrade on the Shared Skill Tree. This skill is simple, but useful in every situation in the game. Every time you KO an enemy, use a Finisher, or a Takedown, you will partially recharge your abilities.

2. Mega Venom Blast: Self Care (Miles Morales Exclusive)

Miles Morales and his electric Venom powers are capable of devastating large groups of enemies with ease, and Self Care is a must-have skill. This upgrade will instantly refill all of your Focus meters when you cast his Mega Venom Blast. This is great because any enemy that is somehow left standing can be taken out with a Finisher.

1. Aerial Escapades

This skill is a fantastic traversal quality of life upgrade that allows each of our heroes to recharge their Spider-Jump and Spider-Dash abilities with ease. This will allow you to maintain velocity while freely swinging around New York and cruising with style.
