For the gamers that hunt for PlayStation platinum trophies, playing a new game comes with a certain trepidation. Will I be able to platinum this? Will it be easy? And will I be committing another 100 hours to a game that ended in 40? Luckily, many enthusiasts seek out different types of games to weed out which ones will be the easiest. Whether you want to play some easy shovelware, a port of an old classic, or some indie gems, there are many games that fit the bill this month. So, here are the 10 easiest platinum trophies you can achieve in August 2023.
Venba
(Updated on October 7, 2024 – updated links and format)
You might have heard about the game Venba, which was released at the end of July. Developed by Visai Studios, Venba is a cooking game where you play as an Indian immigrant. The game tells the story of the immigrant experience, while also teaching you how to cook some tasty Indian dishes. You might cry, you might get hungry, but you will get a platinum trophy.
The requirements for the platinum trophy seem to be quite simple, as most of the trophies can be earned naturally by progressing through the short story and perfecting all the meals. There are missable trophies, but as long as you are a bit diligent, you should be able to get the platinum trophy within a few hours.
Quake II
The 1997 classic, Quake II, has been ported as an enhanced edition to many consoles including PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The game was originally developed by id Software, and like many of the other classic id first-person shooters, it received great reviews. This version of the game also comes with an expansion designed by MachineGames, called Call of the Machine.
Maybe the best thing about this Quake II port is that the road to the platinum trophy isn’t as grueling as it was for the first game. You don’t have to beat anything in Nightmare mode or do anything without taking damage. To get the platinum trophy you simply need to beat everything in the game, that’s it. And if you want to play both the PS4 and PS5 versions, you can add two platinum trophies to your collection.
Ape Escape: On the Loose
Ape Escape: On the Loose was developed by Japan Studio and released in 2005. The game is a port of the original Ape Escape – which itself is another easy platinum trophy you can obtain – and it was released as part of August 2023’s PS Plus Premium offering. If you haven’t played the game before, you go from level to level collecting apes with your various gadgets.
This one will take you anywhere from 6 to 10 hours, and it should be a fairly fun and easy time. You will need to try out the minigames, and fully complete one level, but everything else can be obtained by beating the game. Like the original trophy list, it seems like you don’t need to find all the collectibles so it should be an enjoyable experience. Plus, it’s a PSP port, so it comes with the instant rewind feature in case you make a mistake and want to go back before you took damage.
MediEvil: Resurrection
Another one of the PS Plus Premium games is another PSP remake of a PlayStation classic, this time for MediEvil. MediEvil: Resurrection was developed by SCE Cambridge Studio and it was released in 2005. While it does contain some changes and expansions compared to the original game, it is fairly similar to the 1998 action-adventure game. Prepare to control Sir Daniel Fortesque and fight Zarok once again.
There is already a remake of MediEvil that is on PlayStation 4 with a relatively easy platinum trophy. If you want another MediEvil platinum, there’s some good news as this game’s list seems to be even easier. It doesn’t look like you have to collect everything this time around, and with the instant rewind feature, it should be a cakewalk.
Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice
The last of the three PS Plus Premium additions for August 2023 is Pursuit Force: Extreme Justice. The game is a sequel to Pursuit Force, it was developed by Bigbig Studios, and released for the PSP in 2007. If you haven’t heard of either game, you play members of the elite Pursuit Force, who drive and shoot their way through numerous gang leaders.
The first entry already came to the PS Plus Premium service earlier in the year, and it had an easy trophy list that could be achieved in a few hours. It seems like Extreme Justice is extremely similar, as it can also be achieved in just a few hours. You should get all the trophies just by playing the game, and you can play through it on the easiest difficulty level. There’s also the instant rewind feature if you get stuck.
Kentucky Route Zero
Kentucky Route Zero was developed by Cardboard Computer and it was released in 2020 on PlayStation 4. But, as of August 17, 2023, the game has also landed on PlayStation 5. Therefore, the game has another trophy list, allowing you to get the platinum trophy twice. It is a point-and-click adventure game in which you play a truck driver named Conway.
It might be one of the longer games on this list, especially if you play naturally and the platinum trophy takes more than one playthrough. You could be looking at more than 10 hours of playtime, but because it is a point-and-click adventure game, it should be a relatively easy 10 hours. So, settle in and play a good game, so you can earn your shiny platinum trophy.
The Red Exile
The Red Exile was developed by NipoBox and released at the beginning of August. It is a survival horror game, and unlike most of the other games on this list, it received poor to mixed reviews. Based on the trailer, which you can watch above, it seems to be a cheap mix of Dead by Daylight and Alien: Isolation.
The good thing about The Red Exile is that it has a devilishly simple trophy list. All you need to do is open 36 blocked doors, collect 25 candles, buy three perks, and visit 300 rooms. All of this will seemingly take you less than an hour after which you will have your collection tarnished with one silver trophy, 11 gold trophies, and a platinum.
Astro Flame: Starfighter
Astro Flame: Starfighter is a side-scrolling top-down arcade shooter. The game was released on August 15, 2023, and it was developed by Satur Entertainment. This seems like a fun arcade shooter, and the trophies make it seem like it might be shovelware. But, if you don’t love it, don’t worry, as it seems like you can earn the platinum trophy after a couple of hours.
The trophy list is fairly simple. You have to beat a mission while retaining maximum armor and beat a level without being hit by an enemy. You also need to beat the game, and you will have to destroy 7500 enemies, but it’s not clear if that will be achieved by the time you beat it. It is short, and it has more gold trophies than silver ones, along with a shiny and easy platinum trophy.
Sven: Completely Screwed
First of all, Sven: Completely Screwed is definitely not for children. It’s not safe for work either, so take caution when you play it. But, it seems to be a funny game with a fairly achievable platinum trophy. Developed by Korion Interactive, you play a ram named Sven who has sex with some sheep. Think of it as a hornier version of Untitled Goose Game.
The trophy list seems to be short and easy, with about a 5-hour completion time. Not only that but the trophy names and descriptions are funny too. For example, one of the trophies is titled “Nice”, and it is awarded once you beat 69 levels in the game. Again, it’s not for kids, but if any adult trophy hunters want a funny game to platinum, this seems to be a good one.
The Helper
For all you 2D platformer fans, The Helper is the easy platinum trophy for you. Released at the beginning of August 2023 on PS4 and PS5, the game was developed by Scout Game Studios. It has a fun art style, with the protagonist’s mouth constantly agape. The main mechanic seems to revolve around gravity shifting your way around enemies and projectiles.
The Helper is fairly short, you can beat the 80 levels within one to two hours. The great thing is, that’s all you need to do for the platinum trophy. Simply beat the game and the trophy is yours, along with the 49 other trophies that you get along the way. And the best part is that it’s only $1.99.
