Are you new to Ark Survival Evolved and wondering what the best maps are? When the game was first released in 2015, there were very few maps to play on. However, throughout the years since then, Studio Wildcard has released several new maps for us to play on and enjoy. But which is best? Well, let’s take a look at what we consider the top 5 best Ark Survival Evolved, ranked.
5. Crystal Isles
Crystal Isles is one of the most extensive maps in the game, comparable in size to Lost Island. Size aside, Lost Island is also a beautiful map covered in Islands and a large number of different biomes to explore. What Crystal Isles has that’s different than many other maps is its set of floating islands called Apotheosis. It’s a breathtaking sight and a fantastic place to build a hand-to-access base on PvP servers. Crystal Isles introduces the Tropeognathus, a flying dinosaur that you’ll soon find can be pretty helpful. Crystal Isles is one of the best maps in Ark Survival Evolved and one of the most loved maps by players.
4. The Island
Even though The Island was the first map released within the game, it’s still one of the best and offers many possibilities. It gives a certain sense of nostalgia and offers a smaller map size and lower-leveled dinosaurs, making it perfect for beginners or anything trying to have a relaxing playthrough. The Island doesn’t rank higher on the list for several reasons. First, The Island offers little variety regarding the different locations on the map. And finally, The Island only provides a few exciting dinosaurs. Regardless, The Island is still one of the best maps in Ark Survival Evolved.
3. Fjordur
Fjordur has a powerful Viking vibe to it, and one that was a surprise to many players. However, Fjordur is one the best maps in Ark Survival Evolved for survivors who enjoy taming all the beautiful and exotic beasts the map offers. Fjordur offers several unique dinosaurs to the map, including Desmodus, Andrewsarchus, Fjordhawk, Fenrir, and even the Aberrant Megalania. Fjordur is great for animal lovers and Norse mythology fans, though there is something fun within the map for everyone.
2. Ragnarok
Ragnarok is the jackpot for Ark Survival Evolved players trying to find an amazing all-around map. Ragnarok features some of the best base-building locations throughout the entire game. There are beautiful beaches, intricate cave networks, and even ruins that you can build into a whole new base. Ragnarok is the best map in Ark Survival Evolved for builders. With active volcanos, Wyvern nests, and beautiful forests, there are so many things to do on Ragnarok that are sure to test your survivor’s strengths and weaknesses. With all the possibilities that Ragnarok offers, it’s clearly one of the best maps.
1. Lost Island
Lost Island is one of the latest maps to be released for Ark Survival Evolved and arguably the best one. Lost Island has over 150 square kilometers of gorgeous, jaw-dropping terrain. Not only is Lost Island one of the most extensive and beautiful maps, but it also comes with exciting content that isn’t available on other maps that players seem to love. High mountains, deep, dark caves, swamps, oceans, and more exist. Additionally, three dinosaurs found in Lost Island, including the Amargasaurus, are unique and valuable.
