You can upgrade and build a loadout for your characters in The First Descendant using modules. These small chipset-looking items are the modifiers that change the critical stats of your operator, but not all of them are decent to invest in. Upgrading modules to the max level costs a lot of resources, and you’re going to need to invest in the best mods that you can use for every character.

Now, notice that the mods below are not Descendant specific, meaning that you can use them on any loadouts you’re building with any of the characters. We start from the most common modules, and rank up to the ones that’ll give you more super bonuses and are extra rare to find. Let’s dig in, shall we?

Notice! There are many missions and spots where you can farm these items, but the ones listed are the best to have a higher chance of gaining these modules with less legwork.

10. Increased HP

As the name suggests, the Increased HP mod in The First Descendant gives you the HP bonus you need. Even for Descendants like Gley that gain health for hitting targets need heavier HP tanks to fight bigger targets. So while your shield can easily drop with a trick shot from the Vulgus, higher HP stats can save you.

  • Kingston – Fallen Theater: Vulgus Strategic Outpost

The Increased HP mod is one of the easiest to find in The First Descendant. There are a plethora of missions in the starting area of Kingston that reward you with the module, and you don’t have to go through the hassle of beating bosses for a 20% drop chance. Every mission is a piece of cake here.

9. Increased DEF

Increasing your HP is a need for every Descendant in the game, but isn’t it better to just nerf the amount of damage the enemies can deal to you? That’s exactly what Increased DEF does, and why it’s one of the top mods to use in The First Descendant.

  • Kingston – Vulgus Occupied Buildings

Just like increased HP, you can easily find the increased DEF module in Kingstone by just killing a bunch of Vulgus and completing missions. Obtain and max out this module to have the best shot against tough opponents later in the game. The good thing about these common mods in The First Descendant is that you can later mix their effects with high-tier ones listed on the top spots of this guide.

8. Nimble Fingers

Using your Descendant’s unique abilities is the best way to take control of the fight. But have you ever needed to use your Descendant’s skills so badly in a tough situation only to find out it’s on a cooldown? The Nimble Fingers mod is one solution to boost the cooldown speed of every Descendant’s skills.

You can gain the Nimble Fingers mod in The First Descendant as random loot, or you can top the External Reactor mission in a few minutes and gain it in Sterile Land.

7. MP Conversion

The MP Conversion invites you to a top trade. Do you want to sacrifice a bite of your MP to gain a massive boost on the cooldown time of your skills? Doubling this mod with the Nimble Fingers is a demon combo that allows you to use your Descendant’s ultimate so frequently.

  • Echo Swamp – Derelict Covert: Vulgus Strategic Outpost (Hard)

You’ll have a 30% chance of achieving the MP Conversion module by completing the Derelict Covert: Vulgus Strategic Outpost mission on Hard mode in The First Descendant. Just like most other mods, you might also get this item by chance as ground loot when killing the Vulgus soldiers.

6. Time Distribution

The Time Distribution is another mod that can go along really well with the Nimble Fingers module. It allows for a chunk of HP increase, while you get to have faster skill cooldown speed; no penalties!

  • Agna Desert – Heavy Equipment Entry Path (Hard)

You’ll have a 20% chance of gaining the Time Distribution module by completing the Heavy Equipment in Agna Desert. However, you must be playing in Hard mode to gain this reward as quickly as possible.

5. Mental Focus

If you’re an LMG lover who stays behind the cover or goes heavy to DPS the Colossi bosses, the Mental Focus is your happy mod. This piece of tech allows for up to 150% damage increase as long as you do not change or reload your weapon. This mod best suits Gley builds the best where you go without reloading your weapons.

  • Hagios – Ransacked Village Mission (Hard)

You can have a shot at a 5% chance with the Ransacked Village mission in Hagios on Hard mode. The drop rate is low, of course, but this mission doesn’t take more than five minutes to complete if you’ve got super-strong firearms.

4. HP Amplification

By far, the HP Amplification is one of the best mods here in our top 10 list as it reduces shield and gifts you a massive HP bonus. The amount of health points that you earn with this is way more than the shield you lose.

  • Fortress – Frozen Valley: Vulgus Strategic Outpost

There’s a 27.5% chance that you gain the HP Amplification from the Frozen Valley Vulgus Strategic Outpost mission. However, you should have high-tier firearms to deal with the objective. Fortress is not a playground, as the Vulgus forces here mean business.

3. MP Collector

Whenever you kill a Vulgus, you’ll have the chance of getting your MP recovered by 12%. This is crazy for the skill-based Descendants like Freyna and Valby, while you can boost the MP increase rate by levelling up the module later in the game.

  • White-night Gulch – Border Line of Truth (Hard)

The MP Collector is one of the ultimate tier mods in The First Descendant, meaning that you’ll have to grind harder to get it. You’ll have to give White-night Gulch a visit in Hard mode, just so you can have a 5% chance of gaining this item by completing the Border Line of Truth mission.

2. Mid-Air Maneuvering

One could argue that the Mid-Air Maneuvering is the best mod in the game as it allows players to escape like Spider-Man. With this module, you can hit your grappling hook anywhere in the air and swing! Yes, you don’t need to hit surfaces anymore to swing away from those mad Colossus.

  • Sterile Land – Large Nuclear Reactor (Hard)

During the Large Nuclear Reactor mission in Hard mode, the elite Vulgus forces might drop the Mid-Air Maneuvering for you. It’s also possible that upon completing the mission you earn the Action and Reaction weapon mod.

1. HP Collector

The HP Collector mod allows you to turn any of the Descendants into Gley. This module is the best thing that mankind has ever created after whatever happened to humanity in the story of this game. The function? You’ll literally gain HP for killing enemies!

  • Vespers – Frontline Base Mission (Hard)

For the best module in The First Descendant, you don’t have to go far in the high-tier regions of the game. Vespers is your destination and the Frontline Base is your mission to gain this module with a 5% drop rate.
