Streamers are sometimes some of the most obnoxious people you can encounter. Perhaps it’s mainly because their main job is to draw the attention of the internet, and thus they’re incentivized to do things that are often disruptive. One infamous streamer named Jack Doherty caused a big incident that resulted in him being banned by the PGA Tour. The whole thing started when Jack Doherty thought it was a great idea to disrupt a golf tournament in Arizona. He actually paid someone $100 to scream at the players while they were swinging. This was a big problem since the act was seen as disturbing the players and might cause them to miss their shots.
In the video shared online, you could even see him blatantly encouraging another visitor to yell at a golfer named Mackenzie Hughes during his pre-shot routine. The shout drew the attention of the golfer and spectators. One spectator rebuked Doherty for what he did, but he argued that he wasn’t the one who shouted at the Arizona tournament.
The police soon arrived and ordered him to leave the area. Doherty tried to use the same argument, but the police didn’t care and said that he would be escorted out. He was then confronted by one of the staff members, who said that Doherty was not allowed to return to the Arizona tournament again or he would be arrested.
Doherty tried to get himself out of trouble, but the staff didn’t change his stance and just repeated what he said. As he left the Arizona tournament, Doherty couldn’t help but want to have the last word and said to the man that nobody his age cares about golf, calling it a boring golfing event.
The golfer later gave a statement saying that he wasn’t bothered by the incident and that something like that sometimes happens. Internet users weren’t impressed at all by what the streamer did at the Arizona golf tournament. Many saw him as someone childish who just wanted attention, and when he got rebuked, he threw a tantrum. “This kid is so insufferable,” one user wrote.
Others found Doherty’s defense weak and unconvincing. Just because someone else did the shouting didn’t mean he wasn’t still responsible. “People really should learn that you do not have to do anything to get kicked off privately held property, because I really often see people be like ‘Oh, I did not do anything but now I’m being kicked out’ when they did something that is not against the law but just upsets the owner or disturbs whatever people are doing there,” one commenter said.
