For those prepared to follow Samira’s journey in League of Legends, you’ll want to follow our Tournament of Souls guide and tips. It’s standard for Riot to release massive events every summer, like adding new skins, event passes, and metagame modes. The Tournament of Souls is the latest metagame to join the ranks. It’s a fighting-game-styled mode that accompanies the Soul Fighter mode and focuses on Samira as she battles other Soul Fighters, pushing through the ranks to become champion. We’ll break everything down so you know what to expect and how to navigate the event.
Tournament of Souls Tips – Starting Out
The Tournament of Souls lasts from July 20 to August 28, 2023. When you launch League of Legends, navigate to the following to find it:
- Select the “Home” tab
- Choose “Tournament of Souls” at the top left
- Select “Launch” and then “Play”
You’ll notice that it has a visual novel quality to it. There’s a fun story that goes along with everything, so feel free to take time and read up on Samira’s story. Additionally, you’ll notice the Tournament of Souls guides you along quite well at the start. Also, you can choose either “Story” mode or “Expert” mode. As a beginner, we recommend following the “Story” mode.
The first fight encounter is with Jhin. There’s a brief tutorial section that details what you must do. However, we still have some Tournament of Souls tips and a basic rundown below. Remember that it plays differently than the regular League of Legends game:

After you finish the introduction battle, you’ll soon see the map where you must battle 10 Soul Fighters. You must unlock Reputation Points to unlock the battles. Note your Reputation in the bottom left-hand corner when you’re on the Tournament of Souls screen or above Samira’s name when you launch the game.
