Trace Cyrus has doubled down on his support of Donald Trump. After receiving backlash last week for saying he “love[s]” the current president, the musician has taken to Instagram to address the online criticism. By the looks of it, he doesn’t seem to care what others have to say about his political views.
Trace Cyrus Stands Beside Donald Trump Despite the Backlash
Trace Cyrus mentioned the politician during a recent Q&A session on his Instagram Story. Since Trump has said and done many controversial things over the years, a fan told Trace that they couldn’t wrap their head around his support for the president despite being a religious person. “How can you support Trump and call yourself a Christian,” they asked.
The Metro Station star wasn’t having any of it. “This is the type of hypocritical behavior that makes me sick,” he snapped back. “Literally a few months ago at a Harris rally someone stated ‘Jesus Is Lord’ her exact response was ‘oh, you guys are at the wrong rally.'”
Trace Cyrus ended his response with a verse from the Bible. “Everyone who denies me here on earth, I will also deny before my Father in heaven,” he added.
He Doesn’t Hide His Support
His response comes just a few days after he also showed support for Trump in an Instagram video. After his dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, performed in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 20, as part of Trump’s inauguration celebration, Trace shared a clip on his Story revealing “no one was more excited” for the event than him. Apart from the fact he couldn’t wait to see his father on TV, Trace confirmed he “loves[s]” the politician. He then proved his loyalty by wearing a hat with Trump’s name on it. He also showed off his Trump flag featuring the phrase, “Make America Great Again.”
Trace Cyrus confirmed his support for Donald Trump after some fans had speculated that Billy Ray’s political views caused him to be estranged from his kids. Since Miley Cyrus has been very vocal about her dislike for Trump, they assumed her siblings felt the same way. However, we now know that isn’t the case.
While it’s still possible Billy Ray’s support of Trump could have caused tension between him and Miley, it seems it had nothing to do with his estrangement from Trace based on his latest posts. Instead, the musician implied their relationship fell apart due to Billy Ray’s alleged behavior toward the Cyrus family.
After the country singer sparked concern over his shaky inauguration performance, Trace posted a lengthy letter on Instagram asking his dad to get help. During his post, he claimed Billy Ray had “pushed” all of his kids away in recent years. He speculated the star could be acting differently due to alcohol. “I’d love to help you if you would open up and receive the help,” Trace said.
So far, the rest of the Cyrus family has been quiet regarding Billy Ray’s messy inauguration performance.
