Kelce can thank his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, for his recent level-up. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end has gotten so popular that he was recently asked to appear in a Netflix series. However, he declined the offer.
As reported by People, the athlete was invited to join the Netflix special called Receiver. The show will be a follow-up to last year’s show, titled Quarterback. Kelce’s teammate and QB1, Patrick Mahomes, participated in the Netflix series last year. However, Travis Kelce is just uninterested. Previously, the NFL superstar starred in a dating series, and he claims he has no plans to return to reality TV in the future.
Taylor Swift May Have Influenced Travis Kelce’s Decision
“After Pat did it, I did get asked about it. I don’t know. I’d rather just play ball, man. I’m already doing enough with the podcast and everything,” Kelce said of being approached to do the show.
Kelce is used to being in front of the camera, though. This offseason, he was seen across the country with Swift. He even appeared on stage with her, much to the delight of fans. However, some fans actually wonder if Swift had a role in Kelce turning down the show.
“On the one hand he seems like her puppet as opposed to her bf, but then he’s done reality TV previously too,” one person tweeted. “Taylor Swift is a new level of humiliation for Kelce in a relationship where he’s clearly calling none of the shots,” another person said. “Taylor is bigger than the NFL, and her image wouldn’t be affected,” one social media user pointed out.
It’s possible that Taylor Swift could have played a part in Travis Kelce’s decision not to take part in the Netflix football docuseries. However, the tight end has revealed in the past that he no longer wants anything to do with reality television. Instead, he’s moved on to bigger and better things, such as his role in Ryan Murphy’s new horror series, per Us Weekly.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have reportedly gotten very serious in their relationship. There have even been talks of a possible wedding in the future. If that is the case, the athlete would likely consider the singer when making big life decisions. However, it seems that for now, he has a plan for his career, and reality TV is not in the cards.
