Trevor St. John is saying goodbye to The Young and the Restless. The former One Life to Live star joined the CBS soap opera in September 2022 in the role of Tucker McCall. The actor was featured constantly with Tucker in storylines involving business takeover and his romance with Ashley Abbott. But now viewers will be seeing less of the actor and his character.
On Tuesday, June 18th, the star announced his departure on X. In his statement, he wrote:
Dear #YR @YandR_CBS @YRInsider #YoungandRestless fans: As you well know, Tuckers come and Tuckers go, and so the cycle continues…this Tucker is in his go phase…
He went on to express his gratitude to the cast and crew, CBS, and fans for helping make it a “great experience” playing Tucker. The actor then ended his statement by saying he had projects lined up and promoted his latest film A Good Enough Day.
What Does Trevor St. John’s Exit Mean For Tucker’s Future?
Tucker is a prominent The Young and the Restless character and the son of the late Katherine Chancellor. The character was introduced in 2009 with William Russ originating the role. Days of Our Lives actor Stephen Nichols then took over the role from 2010 to 2013.
Trevor St. John had big shoes to fill taking on the role but made it his own. He shined as the powerful businessman, who made plenty of enemies. Whether he going against Victor Newman or Jack Abbott, viewers couldn’t wait to see what sneaky tricks Tucker would pull.
With St. John leaving, the big question is what will happen to Tucker?
Since Tucker is an important character, the show will likely be recast. The writers could have Tucker offscreen for a while until they find another actor to fill the role.
But there’s also the possibility of a permanent exit for the character.
Tucker has a lot of enemies, and currently, he’s locked in a heated feud with his ex-lover Audra Charles. Audra has teamed with Victor to oust Tucker out of his own company, yet Mr. McCall isn’t give up without a fight. Given how tense business rivalries are and how dirty Victor plays, he’ll do anything to bring down Tucker. Victor and Audra’s plan could put Tucker in danger, resulting in tragedy.
It’s unclear what Tucker’s future holds. Viewers will have to wait and see how things play out as Trevor St. John’s exit approaches.
