Ever wondered how the in-game government has created the Nuketown all the way back from Black Ops 1? Treyarch is giving us the exact answer by expanding on that simple, dark, and rusty old map, delivering us a new Warzone Resurgence playground called Area 99 coming with Black Ops 6. This is years after Treyarch has been working on a BR/Resurgence-related map for Call of Duty, and it’s already blowing minds.
Area 99 Is The Nuketown For Warzone
Talking aesthetics, the Area 99 has all that 80s/90s vibe from the original Nuketown, although it’s more of a rusty approach this time. The map looks just as simple as Nuketown does in Multiplayer, but it only means one thing: It’s so damn balanced.
There are enough buildings, covers, and details, and the size is just fitting for a competitive Resurgence experience. Compared to the other Call of Duty: Warzone maps, Area 99 feels very much like the Nuketown parts of the Black Out from Black Ops 4 and Isolated from CoDM. Area 99 features 10 POIs in total:
- Pods
- Mannequin Assembly
- Manufacturing
- Reactor
- Cooling Tower
- Bunker
- Test Site
- Nuketown Shipping
- Loading Bay
- Warehouse
The whole map revolves around the main location at the center, the Reactor, which has underground tunnels that reach the different sites around the map. So, for those who camp until the end with hundreds of Stim Shots, Durable Gas Masks, and Self Revives, you’re on.
The Area 99 Resurgence map will be released with Black Ops 6 Season 1 at Warzone, and it will be free to access and play at the time. However, no official release date for Black Ops 6 Season 1 has been announced yet.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is set to release on October 25, 2024, on PS5, PS4,
