Tristan And Maralee’s Child Custody Battle Resolved
The former NBA champ agreed to pay $9,500 monthly to Maralee while she gets custody of their son. Tristan will also reportedly cover some of Maralee’s lawyer fees.
According to TMZ, Tristan Thompson and Maralee Nichols haven’t figured out an official visitation plan yet but will do so shortly. Tristan will also be listed as the father on Theo’s birth certificate.
The paternity case has been in court since Tristan’s baby mama gave birth on December 3, 2021. The 38-year-old basketballer initially refused to acknowledge the baby until a paternity test was carried out.
The Texan native sued Tristan for child support and alleged that he offered to pay her $75,000 to keep quiet about the baby. According to HollywoodLife, a spokesperson also claimed that Tristan wasn’t paying child support to Maralee. However, an attorney for the professional athlete insisted that it wasn’t true.
“Tristan is paying, and has paid, child support to Ms. Nichols retroactive to the date she delivered the child,” the attorney said.
Tristan Impregnated Maralee While Dating Khloe Kardashian
Tristan was in a committed relationship with Khloe Kardashian when news of his tryst with the fitness model broke out. He acknowledged the baby a month after his birth and took responsibility for his actions on social media.
“I take full responsibility for my actions. Now that paternity has been established, I look forward to amicably raising our son. I sincerely apologize to everyone I’ve hurt or disappointed throughout this ordeal both publicly and privately,” he wrote at the time.
The NBA star also apologized to Khloe, admitting that she didn’t deserve the “heartache and humiliation” he put her through.
Tristan and Maralee’s son, Theo, is the basketball star’s third child. He shares a six-year-old son Prince with ex Jordan Craig and a four-year-old daughter, True, with Khloe. Tristan and Khloe also share a second child, a son, born via surrogacy in 2022. Their baby boy was conceived before news of Tristan’s paternity scandal broke.
Tristan owning up to his mistakes is a step in the right direction. Tristan and Maralee’s child custody case dragged on for too long. Hopefully, they can sort out other aspects amicably as well.
