Donald Trump and the Clintons are no strangers to each other. Outside the shared presidential sphere of influence and history, they’ve been associated with many of the same people, past and present. It just so happens one very infamous “friend” they shared, Jeffrey Epstein, will go down in history as the most well-known pedophile of all time, and the only thing more controversial than his deeds are the names and associates of everybody who visited his little island of horrors. The Clintons will face a deposition in Washington, D.C., about their Epstein connections, and in a bizarre move being mocked by the internet, Donald Trump feels sorry for them.
In a viral Reddit post, following a story reported by The Hill, President Trump had some odd and choice words for his political rivals.
I think it’s a shame to be honest. I always liked him. Her? Yeah. She’s a very capable woman who’s better at debating than some of the other people, I’ll tell you that. She was smarter, smart woman. I hate to see it in many ways, But then I look at me. They went after me. They wanted me to go to jail for the rest of my life and it turned out I was innocent. I shouldn’t feel this way but I feel badly that they have to go through that.
As you can see, this is very different from the rhetoric he used when he ran against Hillary in the 2016 election, and many are pointing out that the sympathy likely stems from fear that he may be next as the Epstein investigation continues to ramp up. This led many folks on Reddit to lambast Trump and the Clintons alike, and many wonder if the newfound sympathy Trump has on display is due to fear of his own future.
“Oh, lots, pretty much every time I was on the Island, I was really just there for Donny. I mean, you see how he dances with his hands? He learned that with me” – Bill Clinton under oath.”
“I’m guessing that Clinton has receipts, and if he’s going down, then he’ll take everyone else down with him.”
“Say what you will about them, but the Clintons, particularly President Clinton, are masters at political jiu-jitsu and have 35+ years of experience on turning the tables in these partisan hearings. I can’t believe the Republicans actually think giving Bill Clinton a microphone is a good idea.”
As you can see, many are curious about why they even make the move, or are downright celebrating the shared history and madness on display in the Epstein drama. We will learn more as the looming Washington, D.C., depositions approach.
