In a surprising twist in the ongoing public spat between US President Donald Trump and former DOGE leader Elon Musk, the billionaire CEO has gone on record to admit that he has some “regret” over some of the things he said last week about the 45th and 47th President. Taking to his social media platform, X, the Tesla CEO admitted that some of his posts, “went too far.” It’s still unclear what specific posts he’s talking about, as he does not elaborate any further than that.
For some background, tensions escalated on June 5th when Musk resigned from his advisory role in Trump’s administration. Making matters worse, he publicly denounced the President’s “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” labelling it a “disgusting abomination.” Further controversy arose when Musk suggested Trump’s name appeared in unreleased Jeffrey Epstein-related files — a dramatic claim he later retracted and deleted.
Additionally, according to Reuters, Trump is planning on keeping the Tesla that was gifted to him by Musk, despite the rumors that were circulating about him getting rid of it after the public fallout with the SpaceX founder. Furthermore, Trump plans on continuing to use Musk’s satellite system, Starlink, at the White House. In an Oval office press briefing, the President explained, “I may move the Tesla around a little bit, but I don’t think we’ll be doing that with Starlink. It’s a good service“.
A report published in The New York Times earlier this month, which levelled bombshell allegations against Elon Musk, claimed that Musk excessively consumed drugs while serving as Trump’s closest advisors, as well as the chief of Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
However, Trump played down the rumors surrounding Musk’s alleged drug misuse are false. Answering a reporter’s question about whether the X owner used “drugs here at the White House,” the President-Elect responded with, “really don’t know. I don’t think so. I hope not.” Interestingly, even Vice President J. D. Vance chimed in with his thoughts on the public fallout, dubbing Elon Musk’s unsavory remarks about Donald Trump as a “huge mistake.”
As the complex relationship between Trump and Musk continues to evolve, it’s fair to say that their ongoing bromance is clearly back on the table, as Musk attempts to reconcile with his favorite Republican politician, despite all the drama that surrounds them.
