Things have been quite tumultuous across the country lately. While some of the turmoil relates to our current political administration or kidnappings by ICE, other issues are more interpersonal. For instance, a woman in Tulsa, Oklahoma, who was recording herself eating in her car, unintentionally captured the moment a shootout broke out due to a disagreement between random parties nearby. Fortunately, the video concludes with her remaining safe, but the circumstances were alarming.

The shocking TikTok video shows a woman sitting in her car at night, preparing to enjoy a plate of tacos. She briefly turns to the camera and points out the people around her car who are involved in a fight over something unrelated to her. The argument is clear enough that it sounds as if the woman recording has her window open. As the argument escalates and grows louder, gunshots are suddenly heard.

Unfortunately, there were not just one but several gunshots that rang out. It’s unclear if anyone was injured as a result of this reckless argument; however, the woman in the car was definitely safe by the end of the video. At one point, she leans back in her seat, puts her food down, and adjusts her position to ensure that any stray bullets would pass above her. Commenters on the video were quick to judge, with one person saying, “First 48 ain’t taught yall nothing about TULSA?!😭😭”

Random shootings are a serious issue, and she was aware of the warning signs even before she started eating. However, I can’t blame her for choosing to eat in her car at a location where she has likely dined safely in the past. It’s deeply unsettling to realize that even in familiar places, there is no guarantee of true safety. I hope the woman who was recording won’t return to that area, and if she does, that she stays safe.
